Reviving Hope: Embracing the Life-Giving Power of God's Divine Breath

Nothing is truly hopeless. “Seemingly hopeless” situations can be revived when we prepare the ground in obedience and summon the Breath of God. This teaching draws from Isaiah 45:11 and Ezekiel 37 to show how God’s Spirit brings life, peace, judgment against detractors, and deliverance from demonic resistance.

“Seemingly hopeless” is a perception, not a verdict

The message begins by reframing hopelessness: nothing is truly hopeless. Situations feel hopeless because of perception, but outcomes change when we invite God into a situation and respond with faith and obedience.

Romans 8:19: “For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God.”

God authorizes bold spiritual engagement

The teaching uses Isaiah 45:11 to highlight a striking invitation from God: concerning His works, believers are instructed to ask and to command in alignment with His will.

Isaiah 45:11: “Thus says the Lord, The Holy One of Israel, and his Maker: ‘Ask Me of things to come concerning My sons; And concerning the work of My hands, you command Me.’”

When the ground is prepared, the Breath must be summoned

Ezekiel 37 provides the blueprint. God first brings structure (sinews, flesh, skin), creating a conducive environment. But verse 8 reveals the common frustration: things look assembled, yet still lifeless. That’s not failure. That’s the stage where the Breath is required.

Ezekiel 37:6: “I will put sinews on you and bring flesh upon you, cover you with skin, and put breath in you; and you shall live…”

The Four Winds: how the Breath functions

The message explores the “Four Winds” as an active picture of how the Holy Spirit revives:

  • North wind: associated with rain and good tidings (Proverbs 25:23 is referenced).
  • South wind: associated with calm and peace (Job 37:17 is referenced).
  • East wind: associated with judgment and exposure of empty knowledge and assumptions (Job 15:2 is referenced).
  • West wind: associated with removal, driving out locusts and pushing out detractors.

When the Breath of God is summoned, life comes, peace is imparted, judgment falls on detractors, and demonic influence is driven out.

Partnership, not passivity

A key line in the message is that God’s working is a synergy. We prepare and obey. God releases the Breath. When we try to do everything ourselves or expect God to do everything without our participation, progress stalls.

Do not grieve the Holy Spirit

The teaching closes with a warning and a cleansing: grieving the Holy Spirit blocks sensitivity and spiritual authority. Ephesians 4:30 is referenced, followed by a list of heart postures that grieve the Spirit.

Ephesians 4:30: “And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.”

The practical response is repentance and a renewed commitment to walk in a clean spirit, so that when we prophesy to the Breath, we are not summoning the One we have been offending.

Opening

Praise the Lord. I want to thank God for this grace to deliver His message tonight. I thank my dad and mom in the Lord for the mentoring and tutoring. Father, I thank You for Your grace and for the word You will speak through me tonight, that everyone hearing, including myself, will return blessed in Jesus’ mighty name.

Title and premise

The title of my message tonight is Reviving seemingly hopeless situations — seemingly because nothing is truly hopeless. Our perception of a situation and the actions we take determine the outcomes we get. We must realize that heaven is rooting for us.

Anchor scripture

Isaiah 45:11 says: ask Me of things to come concerning My sons, and concerning the works of My hands, you command Me. God made everything, and He invites us to engage His works in faith.

Ezekiel 37: preparing the ground

In Ezekiel 37, God says He will put sinews, flesh, and skin — creating a conducive environment — then He will put breath and they shall live. Verse 8 shows something important: the bodies were formed, but there was no breath in them. Many people give up at that stage, saying, “I’ve done everything God asked me to do.” But what they have really done is prepare the ground.

Prophesy to the Breath

God then says: prophesy to the breath. “Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on the slain.” The breath is understood as the Holy Spirit.

The Four Winds

The message explores the four winds: north, south, east, and west. North wind brings rain; south wind brings calm and peace. East wind is associated with judgment and empty knowledge; west wind drives out detractors, like the locusts being blown out of Egypt.

Life comes through the Breath of God

When we summon the Breath of God, we bring life into a situation, impart peace, release judgment on detractors, and flush out demonic influence. We prepare the ground and God does the remaining work. It is a partnership.

Do not grieve the Holy Spirit

But it is not everyone that can summon the Breath of God. Ephesians 4:30 says do not grieve the Holy Spirit. Bitterness, wrath, anger, slander, and similar postures grieve the Spirit and disqualify intimacy.

Prayer

Father, forgive me in areas I have grieved Your Spirit. Give me the grace to never grieve Your Spirit again. As we pray from Ezekiel 37:9, we declare: “Come from the four winds, O Breath, and breathe on the slain.” Breathe on my business, breathe on me, breathe on my spouse, breathe on my career, breathe on the Church of God, in Jesus’ mighty name.

Next steps

Identify one “seemingly hopeless” area. Write down what you can do to prepare the ground in obedience. Then pray Ezekiel 37:9 daily for 7 days: “Come from the four winds, O Breath, and breathe on the slain.” Expect life, peace, judgment against detractors, and cleansing from anything resisting God’s work.
